“Marriage is supposed to be easy.” Nope!
Managing successful relationships and marriages requires continuous effort, dedication, and a willingness to adapt. Whether together for six months, six years, or 60 years, actively fostering an intimate relationship cannot and should not be taken for granted. For many, a successful romantic relationship lies at the core of optimal functioning in all areas of their lives. Most people desire (and need) to come home to a peaceful, welcoming house to achieve some reprieve from the stress of the rest of the world. Sadly, many individuals only find more stress and unhappiness in their home, leading to worsening exhaustion, sadness, and anxiety.
In working with a therapist at TRUE Counseling & Psychological Services, LLC, emphasis is placed on finding value in marriages and romantic relationships. Despite the conflicts that can (and do) arise, clients are encouraged to seek new ways of interacting and cooperating with one another rather than competing and/or degrading the meaning each holds to the other. Aspects of assertive communication, effective problem-solving, and useful negotiation skills are incorporated. Additionally, exploration into the roles each plays in the relationship is made so that each individual can better understand and appreciate themselves and their partner.
